The Board of Directors of Barclays Bank of Kenya Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Philip Kinisu as a non-executive director.

Until June 2014 Mr Kinisu was the Chairman of PwC Africa Board overseeing the operations of PwC firms in 16 countries, including Kenya and until June 2012 he was the CEO and Territory Senior Partner, PwC Africa Central comprising PwC firms in 9 countries.

For several years, he served as the Honorary Treasurer, University of Nairobi and is currently Vice Chairman of the Africa Population Health and Research Centre. Mr Kinisu is also a businessman with interests in real estate.

He has more than 30 years of experience as a professional accountant, consultant and business leader with extensive exposure to business issues in the public and private sectors. 

Commenting on Philip’s appointment and while welcoming him to the Barclays family, the Board Chairman Mr. Francis Okomo-Okello said, “I would like to welcome Philip to the Barclays fraternity. He is joining a vibrant Board at an inflexion point in the company’s history-not least, we will shortly be celebrating 100 years of operations in Kenya.”

Mr Kinisu holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Hons) Degree from the University of Nairobi, is a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
